Guðrún Benónýsdóttir is a visual artist and the owner of the artbook publication ‘uns plural for one. Her artistic practise is based in Berlin and Reykjavík. She was a co-founder/owner of Útúrdúr, an artist publishing company and book store in Reykjavik and one of the co founders of the Gallery Kling&Bang.
Benónýsdóttir received a B.A. diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo (2000) and has since been working with different artistic forms, but mainly with installation. After graduating from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts 2014 with a M.Art.Ed degree in art-teaching Benónýsdóttir has been giving (art)book courses in different art schools and cultural institutions in Reykjavik, such as the Iceland University of the Arts, Reykjavik School of Visual Art, Gerðarsafn (Kópavogur Art Museum) and Skaftfell Cultural Center.
Guðrún Benónýsdóttir founded ‘uns in 2015 with the aim to publish artistic books and multiples as well as to put together exhibitions in relation to the published form, merging thus two universes by emphasizing elements that bind or differentiate them.
From 2019 she is the curator of Manière Noire, initiating a new series of events and exhibitions.
